MGB Fuel tank 1976 on

Classic MG fuel tank suitable for MGBs manufactured from 1976 onwards to end of production. This later tank was developed for use with the later tank sender unit which incorporated both the fuel pick-up and float. (See part number ADU3218) Classic MG fuel tanks are prone to internal corrosion, especially from condensation forming on the underside of the tank's upper surface. Over time, this moisture can eat through the metal, causing leaks. If you notice a strong smell of petrol inside the cabin, it's often a sign that your fuel tank needs replacing. For MGs stored over long periods, the best way to prevent corrosion in the fuel tank and delivery system is to drain the fuel before laying the vehicle up.

These tanks are: - Manufactured from zinc-plated steel for enhanced corrosion resistance - Fitted with a removable drain plug for easier maintenance and storage preparation - Finished in a durable powder-coated silver coating, ready for installation Each tank is supplied complete with a sender seal, lock ring, and the drain plug. NB when removing the drain plug, we recommend applying a fuel rated non setting sealant such as Hylomar to the drain plug threads facilitate later removal.
